Invoice Write Offs
Good afternoon RehabGuru team.
I wonder if you could consider putting in an option to write off an invoice. At the moment, you can only void an invoice which is the same whether it’s deleted because it’s a mistake or whether the patient won’t pay and it’s being written off. For accounting purposes, I have to give my accountant the amounts of the invoices that are written off (ie bad debtors). Could a new option be included for write-offs?
Thank you so much.

Hi Tracy,
Thanks for raising this. Good news: the new billing system already keeps write-offs separate from voids, so you don’t need to void an invoice the patient won’t pay.
When you update an invoice’s status there are three options: Paid, Void and Uncollectible. Void is for invoices raised by mistake, and Uncollectible is the one for bad debts. If the patient does pay later, you can still record the payment against it.
Step 1: Go to Account, then Billing & Data, then Billing. On the Invoices tab, click the three dots at the end of the invoice’s row and choose Update status.
Step 2: Choose Uncollectible and click Update. Status changes can’t be undone, so it’s worth double-checking it’s the right invoice first.
Step 3: When you need the figures for your accountant, set the Status filter on the Invoices tab to Uncollectible. You can add Created from and Created to dates to narrow it down to a period.
